This project was an assignment to depict a “Sense of Place” for in a photo essay. I chose San Juan Batista, California for its diverse old and new aspects. What added to the unique lighting was that there was a controlled burn in the hills/range land to the west that brought smoky clouds and distorted light values adding to the ethereal or surreal quality to many of the images.
