This online version of the California Condor Guide, helps distinguish the adult
and juvenile condors. It also gives a comparison between the in-flight markings
of the Condor and more commonly seen Turkey Vulture. Condors have the
distinctive white marking under the wings, to the front of the wing. Turkey
Vultures are all dark, but have a lightish looking area to the back edge of the
wingspan in flight. Each Condor has a tracking or GPS device with the bird’s number on the tag for identification, health and management purposes. For more
information go to the Ventana Wildlife Society website.

There is an excellent mobile device app (smart phone) that lets one enter the
condor tag color and number information into the app, and it gives the
individual condor’s name and pertinent information. This is available at the website condorspotter.com. There are instructions directing to the free downloadable app on the website.
